Bottle gourd/ sorakaya / aanapa kaya chutney

This is a very simple side dish with humble bottle gourd/ sorakaya in Telugu.
Ingredients:
Tender bottle gourd – 250gms,( gourd washed, peeled and cut into 1 inch pieces after removing central part),
Onion – 1, medium, sliced fine,
Green chilli – 4, chopped fine,
Jeera – 1/2 tsp,
Salt,
Oil – 2 Tablesp or little more,
Red chilli – 1,broken into 2,
Peeled and crushed garlic – 5,
Mustard seeds – 1/4 tsp,
Chana dal – 2 tsp,
Urad dal – 2 tsp,
Hing – a pinch,
Haldi – 2 pinch,
Curry leaves – few,
Tamarind paste – 1/2 tsp,
White sesame seeds – 1 tablesp,
Tomato – 1, medium, chopped fine or 1 Tablesp of tomato puree,
Chopped coriander leaves – 2 tsp,
Method:
1).Heat a tablesp of oil,add jeera, 1 tsp each of chana dal, urad dal, sesame seeds and fry till dals change colour.Remove them on a plate and keep it aside.
2).Add green chilli, garlic,fry for few seconds, add gourd pieces along with tomato. Add salt,haldi ,fry them for 2 minutes.Cover the kadai and cook it till the pieces become soft.
3).Remove them on a plate.First. grind the dals into a course powder.Now add the fried gourd pieces along with tamarind and blend into a little course paste.
4).Heat remaining oil, add mustard, red chilli, remaining dals, hing , curry leaves, fry till the dals change colour and mustard splutters. Add onion pieces and fry till they become soft.
5).Add tadka to prepared chutney. Sprinkle chopped coriander leaves. Mix well and serve this mouth watering chutney with hot plain rice with little desi ghee / curd rice/ break fast items like dosa, idli etc.
Tip:
a).You can give tadka with very flavourful and handy vadagam.
