Quick Masala Yam curry in cooker

Purple yam/ Kanda (Telugu) / suran – 300Gms,( peel, wash,rub some salt on it and keep it for 15 minutes ,again wash and cut into 1/2″ cubes),
Onion – 2, medium, cut into small pieces,
Green chilli – 2,slit vertically,
Red chilli powder – 1/2 Tsp,
Haldi – 2 pinch,
Jeera powder – 1/4 Tsp,
Dhania powder – 1 and 1/2 Tablesp,
Peeled garlic – 5 to 6 cloves,( roughly crushed),
Oil – 3 Tablesp,
Jeera powder – 1/4 Tsp,
Cloves – 2, cinnamon – 1/4″ piece – 2,
Curry leaves – Few,
Chopped coriander leaves – 2 Tsp,
1).Heat oil in cooker, add cloves, cinnamon, curry leaves, Green chilli and onion. Fry for a minute till onion turns pink.
2).Add dhania powder, chilli powder, haldi, jeera powder,crushed garlic and mix well. Cook for a minute and add yam pieces along with salt. Cook for 1/2 minute,.
3). Add 200 ml of water,mix well and close the cooker. Cook for 3 whistles.
4).When the cooker is cool, remove the lid,check
and sprinkle chopped coriander .Mix and serve as side dish for rotis/ plain rice / rice preparations.
5).Usualy gravy will be thick in this curry. You can add little water and keep the cooker under low flame for a minute.
You can sprinkle 2 tablespoons of ( dry fried and powdered ) white til powder along with coriander leaves for variation.
