
Ingredients:
Raw banana – 2,
Onion – 2, medium, sliced fine,
Green chilli – 3, chopped fine,
Jeera powder – 1/4 tsp,( dry fried and powdered ),
Ginger garlic paste – 1/2 tsp,
Garam masala – 2 pinch,
Salt,
Oil to shallow fry,
Haldi – 2 big pinch,
Finely chopped coriander leaves – 2,tsp,
Potato – 2, medium,
Channa dal – 1 tablesp,
Corn flour – 2 tablesp,
Egg – 1, only white portion needed, ( optional ),
Method:
1).Prepare slurry with corn flour with 3 tablesp of water and a pinch of salt, Keep it aside,
2).wash banana and potato. Cut banana into 2 pieces. Like wise cut potato into 4 pieces. Put them in pressure cooker along with dal,haldi, salt and 200ml of water.
3).Pressure cook banana for 2 whistles. Cool the cooker and remove the lid. Drain all the water and cool the contents. peel the banana, potato and mash them into soft dough.
4).Grind the channa dal into fine paste. Add this to mashed banana potato mix. Add minced chilli, garam masala, onion, ginger garlic paste, jeera powder, chopped coriander and mix very well with clean hand. Add salt if necessary. Keep it aside.
5).Add white of one egg to corn flour slurry. Prepare round cutlets out of the banana mix. Keep them aside.
6).Heat grill pan / tawa, gently dip the cutlets in slurry and shallow fry them by using minimum oil under low flame. Remove the cutlets when they are lightly browned on both sides.
7).Serve these healthy and tasty banana cutlets as snack/ starter/ side dish for sambar rice / rice preparations.
Tip:
a).You can blend egg white into the banana mix and prepare cutlets With out using corn flour slurry. You need 2 egg whites for this. OR
b).You can completely omit egg in corn flour slurry.
