Dal vada with Drum stick leaves

This vada is prepared with channa dal and drum stick leaves. These leaves are full of medicinal benefits. The vada is not only healthy but very tasty too.
Ingredients:
Channa dal – 200 Gms,
Tender drumstick leaves – 50 Gms ( picked, washed and water completely drained ),
Salt,
Onion – 1, medium,cut into small pieces,
Green chillies – 4, chopped fine,
Jeera – 1/4 Tsp,
Dhania seeds – 1 Tablesp,
Garlic cloves – 4, peeled and chopped, and
Cloves – 2,
Cinnamon – 1/2″ piece, ( cloves, cinnamon and dhania crushed roughly into a course powder)
Ginger – 1/2″ piece ,chopped fine,
Chopped coriander – 1/2 Tablesp,
Oil to deep fry.
Method :
1).Wash dal and soak for 2 hrs. Grind it into a course paste along with salt.Do not add water while grinding.
2).Chop the tender drum stick leaves and add them to dal paste.
3).Add remaining ingredients ( except oil ) to dal paste and mix well.
4).Add a tablesp of hot oil and again blend well.
5).Make round vada and fry them in oil under medium heat till golden in colour.
6).Remove them on to a kitchen tissue to absorb excess oil if any. Serve the nutritious vada with any chutney or sauce
Tip:
Alternately you can prepare fritters or pakoda with the prepared dough. Drop small portions of dough in hot oil and fry till light golden in colour.
