Quick Bottle gourd curry

Sorakaya/ Aanapa kaya ( Telugu) / bottle gourd / kaddu / Louki curry needs very simple and quick procedure .It is low caloried and a good side dish for rice, chapati / poori.
Ingredients:
Tender, small size bottle gourd – approximately 300 Gms, Peeled and cut into 1 and 1/2″ cubes,
Onion – 1, medium, cut into small pieces,
Green chilli – 2, slit vertically,
Red chilli powder – 1/2 Tsp,
Channa Dal – 1 Tablespoon, ( no need to soak dals),
Toor Dal – 1,Tablesp,
Fresh coconut or dessicated coconut powder – 2,Tablespoons,
Halďï – 2, pinches,
Dhania powder – 1, Tsp,
Peeled and crushed garlic cloves – 6,
Salt,
Oil – 1 Tablesp,
Mustard seeds – 1/2, Tsp,
Jeera – 1/4 Tsp,
Curry leaves – few,
Chopped coriander leaves – 1 Tablesp,
Method“”:
1).Heat oil in pressure cooker ( preferably 3 lit ) add mustard seeds, jeera, crushed garlic cloves, Curry leaves and fry till mustard crackles.
2).Add onion, chilli, and haldi. Fry till onion turns soft and pink. Add gourd pieces, dals, red chilli powder, dhania powder and salt.
3).Mix well and cook for a minute and add 3 Tablespoons of water. Stir well and pressure cook for 3 whistles. ( first whistle under high flame and next two under medium high.
4).Remove cooker from fire and allow to cool. Once cooled remove the lid and if there is any moisture cook for one more min.
5).Sprinkle coconut gratings/ Coconut powder and chopped coriander. Mix well and serve as side dish.
Tip:
You can cook in normal way with out using cooker. But the advantage of using cooker is you can minimise oil and cook in less time.
