
Ingredients:
Firm,red tomato – 250 gms,
Onion – 2 medium, sliced fine,
Green chilli – 2,chopped fine,
Red chilli powder – 1/3 tsp,
Haldi – 2 pinch,
Oil – 2 tablesp,
Salt,
Jeera powder – 1/2 tsp, dry fried and powdered,
Dhania powder – 1 tablesp,
Peeled garlic – 6, lightly crushed,
Hing – 2 pinch,
White til powder – 2 tsp, dry fried and powdered, optional and it is my choice,
Mustard seeds – 1/2 tsp,
Tamarind paste – 1/4 tsp,
Urad dal with or with out skin – 1/2 tsp,
Channa dal – 1 tsp,
Curry leaves – few,
Chopped coriander leaves – 2 tsp,
Red chilli – 1, broken into pieces,
Jaggery powder – 1/4 tsp,
Method:
1).Put the tomato in boiling water till the skin is loosened. Take out from boiling water and cool them.
2).Remove the skin and grind them in a blender into a fine paste, keep it aside.
3).Heat oil in a kadai, add mustard, dals, red chilli, garlic, curry leaves and fry till mustard crackles, dals change colour. Add hing, onion, green chilli, haldi, and fry till onion becomes soft.
4).Now add tomato paste, tamarind paste, chilli powder, salt along with 1/2 litre of hot water. Allow it to boil for 2 to 3 minutes. Add til and Jaggary powders. Stir well and boil for another minute. Sprinkle coriander leaves and remove from fire.
5).You can serve this lovely red tomato chutney with almost all break fast items.
