Ingredients:
Medium size karela – 250 gms,
Salt,
Besan flour – 100 gms,
Rice flour – 50 gms,
Oil – 1 Tablesp and 1 tsp for greasing the plate and spraying on karela.
Red chilli powder – 1/4 tsp,
Haldi – a pinch,
Amchur – 1/8 tsp,
Baking soda – 2 pinch,
Garam masala – 1/4 tsp,
White til – 1/4 tsp,
Method:
1).Wash and lightly scrape karela. Cut it into thin stripes.if the seeds are tender you can include them. Sprinkle little salt , rub gently and keep it for 15 minutes.
2).Meanwhile preheat the Air fryer at 180 degree C for 3 minutes..
3).After 10 minutes gently squeeze the water from karela stripes.
4).Put chilli powder, haldi, amchur, very little salt,garam masala, til, baking soda in a mixing bowl and mix well. Now add basan, rice flour, 1 tablesp of oil and mix well. Add the karela pieces and gently rub the prepared coating and take care to see that all the karela pieces are well coated with the mixture.
5).Arrange the coated karela pieces on a greased plate , without overlapping. ( I used an alluminium plate).Spray little oil on the pieces.
6).Air fry them at 180 degree C for 15 minutes. Stir them 2 to 3 times in between , with a fork so that the pieces are well fried and turn light golden in colour.If necessary continue cooking for 2 more minutes.Remove the plate from Air fryer.
7).Serve them as side dish for rice preparations/ sambar rice/ curd rice etc. You can serve it as snack also if any body is karela loverlike me.
Tip:
a).You can air fry them in 2 batches. Adjust the timings and duration of air frying according to your own airfryers settings. Mine is Philips airfryer.
