Sambar with jack fruit seeds in pressure cooker

`Jack fruit is one of the favorite fruit for most of us.Each and every part of the fruit is enriched with lot of health benefits.With tender unripe fruit we can prepare delicious recipes and biryani also. Here we are preparing tasty sambar with jack fruit seeds in pressure cooker.
Ingredients:
Jack fruit seeds – 12 to 15 ,washed, outer thin layer removed and each cut into two,
Toor dal – 175 Gms,
Onion – 2 medium,sliced fine,
Green chillies – 3, slit each vertically into two,
Red chilli powder – 3/4 Tsp,
Haldi – 1/8 Tsp,
Dhania powder – 1 Tsp,
Sambar powder – 1 Tablesp,
Tomato – 2 medium, Cut into medium size pieces,
Peeled garlic – 6,
Hing – 2 pinch,
Salt,
Oil – 2 Tablesp + 1 Tsp,
Mustard seeds – 1/4 Tsp,
Curry leaves – Few,
Chopped coriander leaves – 1 Tablesp,
Tamarind paste – 1/2 Tsp,
Red chilli – 2,
Method:
1).Take a cooker,put washed toor dal, chilli powder, haldi, dhania powder and tomato pieces.
2).Arrange a long steel ( cylindrical preferably ) container in the centre of the cooker. It should not rest on the contents. Drop jack fruit seeds into the container with little water and salt.
3).Now add 350 to 400 ml of water over toor dal along with a tsp of oil ( to prevent overflow of water from the cooker near the weight ) and pressure cook for 3 whistles.
4).After steam escapes remove the lid and the container with seeds.
5).Mash the dal and tomato with back of laddle or potato masher.Add tamarind paste, salt along with requird amount of water ( to make it sambar consistency ).keep it aside.
6).Heat oil in a kadai, add mustard seeds, red chilli, garlic, hing and curry leaves.Fry till the mustard crackles, add green chilli, onion and fry till onion becomes soft. Add the cooked seeds and fry for a minute.
7).Pour the dal over tadka and let it boil for 2to 3 minutes under low flame. Add sambar powder and keep it on flame for 2 more minutes.Sprinkle coriander leaves and remove. Serve this very tasty Sambar with break fast items like idli, vada, dosa,Pongal and plain rice/ ragi sangati.
Tip:
a).Just drizzle a tsp of desi ghee over boiling sambar before removing from flame which gives beautiful aroma to sambar.
