This is a quick one step pressure cooker curry.
Ingredients:
Potato – 2,Medium size (approximately 150 to 175 gms),washed, peeled and cut into 1/2″ to 3/4″ cubes,kept in water till use,
Onion – 2, Medium size,cut into small pieces,
Green chilli – 3,sliced fine,
Salt,
Moong dal with out skin – 30 Gms, (washed and soaked in little water till use),
Curry leaves – Few,
Jeera – 1/4 Tsp,
Mustard seeds – 1/4 Tsp,
Garlic cloves – 2 to 3 peeled and crushed, (optional),
Grated ginger – 1/4 Tsp,
Haldi – 1/8 Tsp,
Oil – 1 and 1/2 Tablespoons,
Hing – A pinch- optional,
Method:
1).Heat oil in 3 liters pressure cooker,add mustard seeds, jeera, garlic, hing,curry leaves and fry for few seconds. Add onion, chilli, ginger, haldi and fry for 30 seconds.
2).Add potato pieces, soaked moong dal and salt. Stir well and cook for 1 minute.
3).Add 350 to 400 m.l.water.Close the lid and pressure cook the curry for 3 whistles.
4).When steam subsides remove the lid and gently stir the curry with laddle or potato masher. Garnish with chopped coriander.
5).Best served with hot poori/ chapathi.
