Ingredients:
Arbi/ chamagadda ( Telugu),colocasia/ taro – 300 To 325 Gms,
Oil – 3 Tablespoons,
Salt,
Dhania seeds – 1 Tablesp,
Channa Dal – 2 Tablesp,
Jeera – 1/2 Tsp,
Garam masala – 1/4 Tsp,
Black pepper – 3 to 4,
Besan – 1 Tsp,
White til – 1 Tablesp,
Peeled garlic cloves – 5to6,
Red chilli – 4, (or red chilli powder – 1/2 Tsp ),
Chopped corinder leaves – 1 Tablesp,
Amchoor powder – 2 pinch, ( optional),
Method:
1).Select big size arbi. Wash thoroughly in plenty of water. Pressure cook them with little salt in ( preferably 3litres ) pressure cooker, When cooker cools down, remove arbi and peel them.
2).Smear little oil on palms and press them to form a round like tikki. Prepare rounds using all arbi and keep them aside.
3).Heat a tsp of oil add dals, chilli, dhania, jeera, pepper, garlic, lastly til, one by one and fry them till they release nice aroma. Add besan, garam masala ,little salt and grind it into a course powder. Add amchoor powder if using.
4).Spread the ground powder in a plate. Dust the arbi rounds laberally with that powder. Keep a non stick pan, smear little oil and arrange the chaaps over it. Drizzle some oil and fry them till they are crispy and golden brown on both sides. Garnish with finely chopped coriander leaves.
5).serve these chaaps as side dish with rice and sambar/ rice preparations/ snack.
Tip:
A). You can cook this arbi in microwave under micro high. Give a nick on each arbi and microwave them on turn table along with a small microsafe cup with water for 6 to 8 minutes with interwels ( spread them around the cup ).Check my microwave tips / kitchen tips.
