Delicious coconut dal

This is a very simple protein rich dish, yet very tasty and best side dish for rice/ chapathi/ poori/ pulka etc.
Ingredients:
Toor dal – 120 Gms,
Moong dal – 50 Gms,
Salt,
Fresh coconut gratings – 2 Tablespoons,
Green chilli – 6, cut each length wise into two,
Red chilli – 2,
Tomato – 1, medium, sliced thin,
Peeled garlic cloves – 6,
Jeera – 1/2 Tsp,
Curry leaves – 5.to 6 chopped,
Hing – A pinch,
Haldi – 1/8 Tsp,
Mustard seeds – 2 pinches,
Urad Dal – 1/4 Tsp,
Oil – 2, Tablesp,
Chopped coriander leaves – 1Tsp,
Method:
1).Wash both the dals and soak them for 10 min.
2).Put the dals in cooker, add tomato, haldi, Green chilli and 400 ml of water.Pressure cook the dal for 3 whistles.
3).When cooker cools down, remove the lid. Stir the dal mix once with laddle so that both the dals are roughly blended . Add salt and keep it aside. ( do not mash ).
4).Heat oil in a Kadai, add hing, mustard seeds, urad dal, red chilli, jeera, garlic cloves and curry leaves. Fry till dal changes colour. Add onion, fry till it becomes soft and pink.
5).Pour cooked dal over this tadka. Add grated coconut, mix well and keep the Kadai for another minute on flame. Garnish with coriander and remove. Serve hot as side dish.
Tip:
You can add tamarind paste to dal if you desire.
