Ingredients:
Alasanda beans – 150 Gms,
Idli rawa – 250 Gms,
Urad dal – 2 tablespoons,
Methi – 2 pinches,
Salt,
Baking soda – 1/8 Tsp,
Method:
1).wash, soak ( preferably white beans) black eyed beans for 3 to 4 hrs along with methi and urad dal.
2).wash rawa twice and soak for an hour.
3).Grind the beans into a fine paste using little water. Drain all the water from rawa by tilting the bowl in which it is soaked. Add it to ground dal mix by taking fistfuls and squeezing out the water.
4).Add salt and mix well. Let the batter ferment overnight.
5).Next day add soda and gently mix well. If necessary add little water. Pour the batter into idli moulds and steam for 7 to 8 minutes. Serve hot with peanut chutney/ coconut chutney and sambhar. These protein rich idlis are healthy and contains more fibre.
Tip:
A).If rawa is of course vareity you can add it to dal mix and grind it for a couple of minutes.
2).There is no need to remove the outer skin of beans before grinding.
