Quick Tomato dal with peanuts

Ingredients:
Ripe tomato – 4, medium,chopped fine,
Toor dal – 150 Gms,
Salt,
Red chilli powder – 1/2 Tsp,
Haldi – 1/8 Tsp,
A pinch of hing,
Onion – 1,medium,chopped roughly,
Green chilli – 2,slit lengthwise into two,
Peanuts – 30 Gms, dry fried, peeled and powdered coursely,
Oil – 2to3 Tablesp,
Dhania powder – 1/2 Tablesp,
Pappu masala / sambar powder – 1 Tablesp,( for papu masala ref. My recipe Pappu masala ),
Mustard seeds – 1/2 Tsp,
Jeera – 1/4 Tsp,
Curry leaves – A sprig,
Chopped coriander leaves – 1 Tablesp,
Red chilli – 2,
Peeled garlic cloves – 6,
Methodand:
1).Wash and put toor dal in a cooker. ( Preferably 3 litres cooker ). Add Onion, tomato, chilli powder, dhania powder, sambar powder, haldi and 400 ml water.
2).Pressure cook the dal till 3 whistles. Let the cooker cool. Remove the lid.
3).Mash the dal with a potato masher or back of a wooden laddle. Add salt.
4).Heat oil, add hing, mustard seeds, urad dal,jeera, green chilli, red chilli, curry leaves, garlic and hing. Fry till dal turns light brown. Add the peanut powder and fry it for 20sec.
5).Pour the mashed dal over tadka and mix well. If necessary you can add little water to dilute the dal. serve this delicious dal with hot plain rice with a spoon of desi ghee/ chapathi/ poori etc
Tip:
You can add 1/4 tsp of tamarind pulp to mashed dal. You can add some Onion pieces in tadka if you desire so.
