This moong dal powder is healthy,spicy and tasty. It can be prepared instantly. The podi or powder is a best accompaniment for break fast items like dosa/ idli/ kichuri/ upma etc .It can be served with plain rice also with a little desi ghee.
Ingredients:
Split moong dal with out skin – 200 Gms,
Salt
White til – 50 Gms,
Jeera – 1 Tablesp,
Peeled garlic cloves – 6 to 8,
Red chillies – 10,
Method:
1).Dry fry moong dal till nice aroma comes. Add til and fry til it turns light brown .Add jeera ,stir once and remove the dal etc into a plate.
2).in the same pan add red chillies with a drop of oil,and fry for a minute. Add garlic and fy for few seconds.
3).Put all the ingredients in a mixie . Add salt and grind them into a little course powder.
4).Remove the powder from mixie and allow it to cool. Store it in a clean, glass bottle. Keeps good for 3 to 4 wks. Lasts few more days if kept in fridge.
Tip:
You can add an inch piece of tamarind while frying the ingredients and grind along with them.
