Easy churros – A Spanish dessert

These churros are very easy and quick to prepare and this popular dessert is from Spanish cuisine. Churros are crispy outside and soft in the centre , served with a mixture of cinnamon and powdered sugar/ delicious chocolate sauce.
Ingredients:
All purpose flour/ maida – 1 cup ( heaped ),
Water – 200 ml,
Salted or unsalted Butter – 1 and 1/2 Tablesp,
A pinch of salt ( if butter is unsalted ),
Vanilla essence – 1/4 Tsp,
Sugar – 1 Tablesp,
For cinnamon dusting:
powdered sugar – 1/4 Cup,
Cinnamon powder – 1/2 Tsp,
Method:
1).In a wide pan pour water. Add butter, sugar, salt and bring it to boil. Add essence and lower the flame.
2).Add seived flour to boiling water and ( keep the flame low ) start stirring quickly and continuously till it forms a smooth mass leaving the sides of the pan.
3).Remove the pan from flame and let it cool for a minute.
4).When the dough is still warm ,fill it in piping bag with a star nozzle. Drop 3 to 4″ portions on a greased sheat or plate. Leave them for a minute to dry.
5).Heat oil and fry 3 to 4 churros at a time under medium heat. Try to drop them one by one ( to avoid clumping ) and fry till light golden in colour.
6).Remove them on to a paper napkin to absorb excess oil if any.
7).Put them in wide basin or bowl and sprinkle cinnamon sugar mix generouly and toss them well so that the churros are ncely coated with that powder.
8).You can also serve the churro with chocolate sauce / honey with cinnamon powder.
Tip:
A).You can add oil to water in place of butter .
B).You can use chakkli press with large size star nozzle to prepare churro.
