This tasty coconut chutney can be prepared in emergencies.
Ingredients:
Desiccated coconut powder – 100 Gms, ( soak it in little water for 15 minutes )
Green chilli – 2,chopped,
Salt,
Peeled garlic cloves – 3,
Jeera – A pinch,
Tamarind paste – 1/4 Tsp,
Fresh curd – 1 Tablesp,( optional ).
Fried gram dal – 2 Tablesp,
Mustard seeds – 2 pinches,
Curry leaves – few,
Urad dal – 1/2 Tsp,
Oil – 1/2 Tsp.
Chopped coriander leaves.
Method
1). Dry fry green chilli ( prick it to avoid bursting ) ) in a kadai till they change in colour.Put the fried dal and stir fry for few sec.Remove.
2).Take soaked coconut ,chillies, jeera, garlic, salt in a mixie and grind it into a fine paste. Add tamarind paste and run the mixie once .If necessary add little water while grinding. Add the curd and mix well.
3).Heat oil ,prepare tadka with mustard, urad dal and curry leaves. Pour this on chutney. Garnish with coriander leaves. Serve with any south indian break fast like idli, dosa. Uthappam etc.
