These colourful pooris are prepared with healthy vegetables like carrot, beetroot and palak. These are a sure hit with kids.
Ingredients:
Whole wheat flour for basic dough – 600 Gms + 100 Gms for dusting,
Salt,
For palak or spinach paste – 3 Tablesp,( palak leaves washed, boiled for 5 minutes and grind into a fine paste ),
Carrot paste – 3 Tablesp , ( carrots washed, lightly scraped , boiled and grind into a fine paste ),
Beetroot paste – 2 Tablesp , ( Beetroots peeled, washed. boiled and grind into a fine paste ),
Jeera – 1/4 Tsp, ( Optional )
Oil to deep fry pooris,
Method:
1).Prepare a little tight dough with whole wheat flour ( 200 gms ) and palak paste with a pinch of jeera. Smear a little oil and cover with a lid.
2).Prepare dough with beetroot paste and a pinch of jeera. Smear some oil and cover with lid.
3).Prepare 3rd portion of dough also with carrot paste and jeera. Smear some oil and cover.
4).Use little water if necessary for preparing dough.
5).Heat oil and make pooris with prepared dough using little flour for dusting.
6).Serve the hot pooris with potato curry / tomato ketchup.
Tip:
A).I prefer to use poori press as it does not need to dust the pooris with flour while preparing.( You can prevent oil getting spoiled by dusted flour ).
B).You can also use the water in which the beetroot is boiled ( while preparing dough ).
