This pungent and spicy chutney is very simple and easy to prepare.It is a great accompaniment with ven pongal / rawa upma /pesarat.It requires minimum ingredients.
Ingredients:
Green chillies ( short and stumpy type which are not so pungent ) – 100 Gms,
Urad dal with out husk – 30 Gms,
Salt,
Peeled garlic cloves – 6 to 8,
Coriander leaves – chopped, 1 Tablesp,
Curry leaves – few,
Onion – 1 medium, chopped roughly,
Salt,
Thick tamarind paste – 1 Tsp,
Jeera – 1/2Tsp,
Mustard seeds – 1/4 Tsp,
Curry leaves – Few,
Oil – 2 Tablesp.
Method:
1).Fry green chillies slowly in a tsp of oil til they change colour.Remove and to same pan add urad dal and fry till dal turns light golden with nice aroma.Remove and fry onion in few drops of oil and keep aside .
2).Mix all the ingredients except mustard seeds , jeera and curry leaves. Grind them into a fine paste .
3).Prepare tadka with mustard, jeera, and curry leaves.Add this to prepared paste and mix well .
Tip:
Prick chillies to avoid bursting.
