This sweet is a traditional recipe in my maternal home.It is very easy to prepare and very much liked by children. It is usually prepared while preparing ariselu / athirasam (as it is prepared with left over rice flour and jaggery )I made little changes to make it more yummy.
Ingredients:
Rice flour – 125 Gms, ( any rice flour – store brought or prepared in house),
Jaggery – 125 Gms,
Dessicated coconut – 45 Gms,
Cardamom powder – 1/4 Tsp,
Salt – a pinch,
Milk – 100 ml,
Desi ghee – 3 Tablesp,
Cashew nuts bits / almond slivers or any other nuts – 2 Tablespoons,
Method:
1).Put rice flour in a non stick pan.Add coconut powder along with cardamom powder and salt.Mix well.
2).Add milk little by little to make uniform thick batter with out any lumps.If necessary add little water to prepare the batter.keep it aside.
3).Melt jaggery in a separate pan with 3 to 4 tablesp of water.Strain it and add it to rice mix.
4).Put the rice flour batter pan on fire under low heat and add ghee .Stir continuously till the mass leaves the sides of pan..
5).Add the nuts and mix well.Tranfer it to a greased tray.Serve it as chunks or flatten it with back of a greased spoon and cut it into squares.
