Puttu rice Ponganalu ( Dumplings )

These healthy Ponganalu / Dumplings are prepared with fibre rich puttu rice which has got many medicinal benefits.
Ingredients:
Puttu rice – 150 GMs,
Raw rice – 150 GMs,
Urad dal with out husk – 50 Gms,
Salt,
Baking soda – 1/8 TSP,
Ginger – 1/2″ bit, chopped fine,
Methi seeds – 2 Pinches,
Onion – 2, medium chopped fine,
Green chilli – 3, chopped fine,
Chopped coriander – 2 Tablesp,
Chopped curry leaves – 1 Tablesp,
Jeera – 1/4 TSP,

Method:
1).Pick, wash and soak both the rices in water for 4 hrs along with methi seeds.
2).Soak urad dal for 4hrs.
3).Drain out water and grind the dal to a smooth paste.Remove the dal paste and grind the rice to asmooth paste.
4).Mix both the batters ,add salt and leave it for fermentation for minimum 4 hrs/ over night.
5).After 4 hrs,add jeera, chopped onion, green chillies, ginger, coriander and curry leaves, Add 2 Pinches of baking soda and water to make the batter a little thicker than dosa batter.
6).Smear the paniaram pan with little oil and fill the depressions with batter ( 3/4 the filling is enough ).
7).Drizzle few drops of oil over and on the edges of batter.Cover and cook on both sides till light golden in colour.
8).Serve with any chutney / sanbar as break fast / tea time snack.
Tip:
You can add grated carrot/ coconut gratings for variation.
