Mullangi thalimpu / Mooli dry curry is prepared in pressure cooker with little oil.It is mildly spiced good side dish with many medicinal properties.
Ingredients:
Mooli or mullangi – 250 Gms,
Onion – 1,medium,chopped fine,
Green chilli – 4,chopped fine,
Jeera – 1/2 Tsp,
Red chilli – 1,
Urad dal with out skin – 1/2 Tsp,
Curry leaves – 6 to 8
Peeled garlic cloves – 6 to 8,
Salt,
Oil – 1 Tablesp,
Fresh coconut gratings – 2 Tablsp,
Mustard seeds – 1/4 Tsp.
Hing – A pinch ( optional),
Haldi – A pinch,
Method:
1).Peel ,wash Mooli and cut them into 1″ pieces .Keep them aside.
2).Heat oil in pressure cooker ( preferably 3 litres pressure cooker).
3).Add mustard seeds,red chilli ,hing, haldi,jeera and curry leaves.Fry till mustard splutters and dal becomes light brown.
4).Add onion ,green chilli , garlic and fry till onion becomes soft.
5).Add Mooli pieces and sprinkle 2 Tsp of water along with salt. Mix well and pressure cook Mooli for 2 whistles.
6).After steam escapes ,remove the lid.Sprinkle coconut and chopped coriander.Mix well and replace the lid till serving.
Serve this simple and healthy side dish with plain rice/ any roti/ poori .Good side dish for diabetics.
