Ingredients:
Lobia (cowpea) – 250g
Raw Rice – 3 tsp (soaked for 4 to 5 hours)
Green chillies – 4, chopped fine
Onions – 2 medium-sized, chopped fine
Chopped Ginger – 1 tsp
Curry leaves – 2 tsp, chopped
Coriander leaves – 1 tbsp, chopped
2 – Cloves
3 – Cloves of Garlic
A small bit of cinnamon, crushed roughly
A pinch – aniseed (optional)
Salt
Oil for frying
Method:
1. Grind lobia along with rice to vada consistency (medium coarse). Usually no water is required while grinding.
2. Add all the ingredients except the oil for frying.
3. Make a small vada (on a plastic paper) with a hole in the centre and deep-fry in oil till golden brown in colour.
4. Can be served with any pickle or chutney (best with chicken kurma for non-vegetarians).
