Vaal Beans Pulav(Anapa Ginjala pulav)
Ingredients:
Basmathi Rice-400Gms,soaked in enough water for30min,drained and kept aside
Vaal Beans-150Gms,kept in water till used
Onion-2,Medium,Thinly sliced
Green Chillies-2,Thinly Sliced Vertically
Ginger and Garlic Paste-1Tablesp
Red Chilli Powder-1Tsp
Haldi-1/4Tsp
Bay Leaf-1
Tomato-2,Medium,chopped roughly
Garam masala- 1/2Tablesp
Oil-3Tablesp
Ghee-1Tablesp
Cloves-3,Cardamum-2,Cinnamon-1/2″pieces-2
Potato-50Gms,Washed,peeled and cut into 1and1/2″cubes
Tomato-2,Medium, Roughly Chopped
Dhaniya powder-1Tsp
Chopped Coriander Leaves-2Tablesp
Chopped Pudina-1Tablesp,
Dry fried Cashew nuts-1Tablesp for garnishing
Method:
1)Heat oil in a 5 lts cooker
2)Add cloves,cardamom,cinnamon and bay leaf.
3)Fry for few secs,add onion and green chilli.Fry till onion turns pink and soft
4)Add ginger and garlic paste,fry till raw smell disappears.
5)Add tomato,fry till it turns mushy
5)Add haldi,chilli powder and dhania powder.Fry for 1/2min . Add potato and vaal beans along with little salt and 2Tablesp of water
6)Add garam masala and Cook for 2 min under low heat with lid on
7)Now add soaked rice and 5 cups of hot water.Adjust salt (as already we have added along with beans)
8)Stir well and pressure cook for 3 whistles.Remove cooker from stove and let the steam escape
9)Open the cooker,drizzle ghee.Sprinkle coriander and pudina
10)Mix gently and close the lid for 2 min.
11)Garnish with cashew and serve hot with onion raitha.
12)This simple pulav is enriched with vaal beans which are good source of protien.
