Besan Balls in Tangy Gravy.
A Vegetarian Sidedish Curry.
Ingredients,
For Besan Balls;
Besan(chickpea Flour);200Gms.
Onion;Small-One-Chopped Fine.
Green Chilli- One- Made into paste.
Azwain-1/4Tsp.
Baking Soda-1/8Tsp.
Salt.
Oil to Deep Fry.
For Gravy,
Oil-2Tabesp.
Green chillies-3-cut vertically into two.
Onion-Medium-one-Chopped fine.
Dhania Powder-2Tsp.
Jeera Powder-1/2Tsp.
Tamarind Paste-1Tablesp.
Tomato Puree-1Tablesp.
Haldi-A pinch.
Red Chilli Powder-1Tsp.
Salt.
Hing-A pinch-optional.
Methi Seeds-A Pinch.
Mustard Seeds-1/4Tsp
Curry Patta Leaves-A Few.
chopped Coriander Leaves-1Tablesp.
Jaggary powder-1 to 2 Tsp(Optional).
Method,
1).For Besan Balls.
a).Mix all the ingredients for besan balls except oil.
b).Add Water&Make a thick paste out of it .
c)Drop small rounds into hot oil&deep fry till they turn golden in colour.
d)Remove them on to a paper napkin to aborb excess oil if any,
Keep them aside.
2)Preparation of GraVY
a).Heat oil,add mustard seeds,hing,Curry leaves&methi seeds.
fry till the mustard seeds crackle&methi becomes light brown .
b)Add onion&green chillies.fry till onion becomes pink.
Add dhania powder,red chilli powder,&haldi,
fry for 2min,
c).add tomato puree,cook for 2min&add tamarind paste along with salt& 100m.l. of water
4)Let it cook under sim for 3to4min until the gravy becomes a bit thick.
5).Now add jaggary ,mix well.
6).Drop beasan balls into the gravy.
7).Sprinkle chopped coriander leaves.
mix once&do not stir again till the time of serving
8).You can add a tsp of rice paste(mix a tsp of rice powderin a tablesp of water),
to thicken the gravy as a last step before adding balls.(optional)
9).serve this tangy gravy with plain rice/pongal/kichidi.
Mix once and donot stir again till the time of serving
