Ponna Ganti Aaku Podi Koora (alternanthera sessilis in english)(Quick Cooker Recipe),
A Side Dish From Andhra.
Ingredients:
Ponna Ganti Aaku:150Gms,
Toover Dal:50Gms,
Onion:One:Medium:Cut into small pieces,
Green Chillies:5to6:Chopped fine,
Red Chillies:2 Broken into pieces,
Jeera:1/2Tsp,
Haldi:1/8th Tsp,
Crushed Garlic Cloves:6to8,
Mustard Seeds:1/2Tsp,
Hing:A Pinch(Optional),
Curry Patta Leaves:6 to 8,
Oil:2Tablesp,
Salt
Method:
1).Pick and wash leaves and tender stalks of ponnaganti aaku in plenty of water,
put it in collander,
2).Wash toover dal and keep it aside,
3).Heat oil in a cooker(2/3lits cooker is enough) add hing,mustard seeds,red chillies,
curry leaves and garlic cloves,
4)Fry till the seeds crackle, add onions,green chillies and fry till onions become pink,
5).Add dal and greens along with salt and haldi,
6).Sprinkle 2 Tablesp of Water ,
7).Mix well and cook for 2 Whistles,
8).After steam escapes remove the lid and check the cosistancy,
9).Usually the curry will be dry and the dal should be cooked but not mashed,
10).If there is some water content you can keep it for another min on fire,
11).serve this very healthy and tasty curry as side dish for plain rice/sambar rice.
Variation:
Just sprinkle 2 to 3 Tablesp. of multi purpose chutney powder, mix well and serve.(pl.ref.my recipe list)
