Mung Dal Chutney

Chutneys from andhra, Vegetarian, Preparation time: 5 min, Cooking time: 5 min, easy preparation, Servings 2 to 3.


Dehusked,split mung dal: 200 gms,
Red chillies: 2,
Green chillies: 5,
Jeera: 1/2 tsp,
Peeled garlic: 5 cloves,
Tamarind paste: 1 tsp,
Oil: 1 tablesp,
curry patta leaves:8to10,
Hopped coriander leaves: 1 tablesp,
Mustard seeds: 1/4 tsp,
Hing a pinch.


1) Dry fry mung dal,remove,dry fry green chillies and jeera(give a nick over chillies and fry).
2) Grind mung dal,green chillies,jeera,garlic,salt to a course paste. Add tamarind paste, half of chopped coriander leaves,little water and run the mixie for a second.
3) Remove the chutney in to a bowl.
4) Heat oil, add hing and mustard seeds,red chilli pieces,curry leaves,fry and pour this over the chutney, sprinkle remaining coriander, serve with curd rice orhot plain rice with a tsp of desi ghee.
