Black Channa – 200 Gms,( soaked over night ),
Onion – 1, medium, cut into small pieces.
Green chilli – 2, cut into small pieces,
Peeled and crushed garlic cloves – 6,
Mustard seeds – 1/4 Tsp,
Fresh or dessicated coconut – 1 Tablesp,( optional ),
Curry leaves – few,
Jeera – 2 pinches,
Red chilli – 1,
Oil – 2 Tablesp,
Chopped coriander leaves – 1 Tablesp,
1).Drain and wash soaked channa once.
2).Cook it in pressure cooker along with 1/2 litre of water and little salt for 5 to 6 whistles.
3).When the cooker cools down, open and drain the liquid in a collander.
4).Heat oil in the cooker,add mustard seeds, jeera, red chilli, garlic cloves and curry leaves.Fry fora minute or till the Mustard splutters.
5).Add onion and chilli pieces ,fry under low heat till onion becomes pink and soft.
6).Add channa and mix well .Put the lid and continue to cook for another minute under low heat. Check salt.
7).Garnish with coconut and chopped coriander .
8).Serve this Sundal as tea time snack. Black Channa is more nutritious than white or green vareities.
