These Rose flowers / Rose cookies / Achumurukku / Gulabi puvvulu are prepared with sugar and also with out sugar.Some use eggs in the sweet varaity.This particular snack and dough nuts are very popular in Christian communities for Christmas.But these days even sweet shops also prepare this famous snack mostly as sweet.This crispy attractive looking snack is mainly a kids favourite .Here I am giving Kara varaity with out egg.
Ingredients:
Maida / All purpose flour – 1 Cup,
Rice flour – 3 Tablesp,
Coconut milk – 4 Tablesp,
Salt,
Red chilli powder – 1/4 Tsp,
Ajwain – A pinch,
Baking soda – A pinch,( optional ),
Oli to deep fry.
Rose cookie mould,
Method:
1).Mix maida, rice flour, salt and baking soda.
2).Prepare a dosa type of batter by adding coconut milk frst and later water, little by little to the flours.Let the batter rest for an hour.
3).Mean while heat oil and immerse the rose cookie mould in oil before we start preparing the cookies.
4).Once the cookie mould is heated up , dip it In batter ( upto 3/4 th of the mould ).
5).Drain excess batter and quickly put the mould in oil under medium high heat.Shake the mould and simultaneously try to separate the flower from the mould with a fork or any thin metal rod.
6).usually the flower will become separated from the mould into oil.Turn it, fry on other side till light golden in colour.Remove on to a kitchen towel to absorb excess oil if any.
7).Cool and keep in an air tight container.
Tips:
A).Dip mould in batter up to 3/4ths of its hight only.
B).Better use fork to dislodge the flower because it is an easy way to do it.
