Mullangi sambar ( Sambar with Radish ) in cooker

This is a quick and easy preparation of sambar in cooker.
Toor dal – 150 Gms,
White radish – 2 medium size, washed, lightly sraped and cut into 1/2″roundels,
Brinjal – 2 medium, washed and cut into 2″ cubes, immersed in salty water,( optional),
Onion – 2 medium,cut each into 6 pieces,
Green chilli – 2 slit each into two,
Red chilli powder – 1/2 Tsp,
Haldi – 1/8 Tsp,
Hing – a pinch,
Tomato – 2 , medium, cut into medium pieces,
Red chilli – 2, broken into pieces,
Peeled garlic cloves – 6, crushed roughly,
Mustard seeds – 1/4 Tsp,
Sambar powder – 1 Tablesp,
Oil – 2 Tablesp,
1).Take a cooker ( preferably 3 lits) keep washed toordal, haldi, red chilli powder and tomatoes.
2).Keep radish, brinjal, onion and green chilli in a tall Stainless Steel container. Sprinkle little salt and keep this in the centre of pressure cooker by Pushing the dal to one side.
3).Now add 250 ml.of water to dal along with a tsp of oil and cook for 3 whistles.
4).When cooker is cool, remove the lid and steel container. Keep the container aside. Mash the dal with back of laddle till smooth and creamy. Add the vegetables. ( cooked in the steel container ).
5).Now add 250 to 300 ml.of water to cooker. Add tamarind paste and little salt. Let it be on fire for 2 minutes to boil. Add sambar powder.
6).Meanwhile prepare tadka with mustard seeds, hing, curry leaves, garlic cloves and red chilli. Add this to sambar.Let it boil for few seconds. Sprinkle chopped coriander and remove.
Add a tsp of jaggery powder if desired.
