This Gujarathi sweet is very simple and easy to prepare with minimum ingredients.This is a crunchy and juicy sweet.
Very fine suji/ semolina/ Bombay rawa – 200 GMs,
Sugar – 150 GMs,
Fresh curds – to mix with rawa to prepare soft dough,( Approximately 1 cup of curd or little less ),
Pinch of salt,
Cardamom powder – 1/4 Tsp,
Ghee – 2 Tablesp,
Baking soda -1/4 Tsp,
Nuts for garnishing,( optional ),
Oil to fry,( ghee can be used if desired ),
1).Prepare soft dough with rawa, curd, ghee ,baking soda and pinch of salt.Keep it aside,No water is used.
2).prepare round tikki and fry in oil under low medium heat till light golden in colour.Remove and keep them on a plate.
3).Mean while prepare sugar syrup with 1/2cup of water. Remove syrup from flame and keep it aside,
4).Drop the prepared tikki in warm sugar syrup.Let it be in syrup for 2 minutes.
5).Remove and arrange the dahithra on a serving plate.Garnish with nuts.
Sugar syrup should be nearer to one string consistency.
