plantain flower vada

This vada is prepared with tiny flowers of raw banana/ plantain and Channa dal.This healthy vada is very tasty and a good, evening snack item with tea.
Ingredients:
Channa dal – 125 Gms,soaked in water for 3 hrs.
Onion – 1,medium,sliced fine,
Plantain flowers , ( stamen removed and chopped ) 5 to 6 Tablesp,( keep it in water till use to avoid discolouration ),
Green chilli – 3, chopped fine,
Dhania seeds – 1 Tablesp,soaked along with dal,
Ginger – 1/2″ piece ,chopped,
Salt,
Chopped coriander leaves – 1 Tablesp,
Chopped curry leaves – 1/2 Tablesp,
Oil to deep fry,
Method:
1).Drain water completely from dal and grind it into a course paste along with salt.
2).Before removing the dough add all the ingredients (except oil) and pulse it twice.
3).Remove the dough and check salt.
4).Make round thin flat discs on a plastic sheet and fry under medium heat till light golden in colour.
5).Place them on a kitchen napkin to absorb excess oil.
6).Serve them hot with ground nut chutney or tomato sauce with evening tea .
Tip:
Plantain flower is very good for health because of its nutritional and medicinal properties.
