Tendli and peas masala Rice

This masala rice is prepared with tendli and fresh green peas in pressure cooker.This can be included in kids lunch box recipes.Tendli is Donda kaya in Telugu.This is a bit neglected vegetable but it is said to be having lot of medicinal properties.
Ingredients:
Rice – 300 Gms,
Tendli,medium – 8 to 10,cut vertically into 4 to 6 slices,
Fresh green peas – 30 Gms,
Ginger and .garlic paste – 3/4 Tsp,
Onion,medium – 1, sliced fine,
Green chillies – 3,cut each vertically into 2,
Red chilli powder – 1/2 Tsp,
Haldi – 1/4 Tsp,
Garam masala – 1/2 Tsp,
Cloves – 4,
Cinnamon – 1/4″ pieces 2,
Cardamum – 2,
Bay leaf – 1,
Salt,
Shajeera – 2 pinches,
Tomato puree – 2 Tablesp,
Oil – 2 Tablesp,
Ghee – 2 Tablesp,n
Chopped coriander leaves – 2 Tablesp.
Fried cashew nuts – 1 Tablesp.
Method:
1).Wash and soak rice for 1/2 hr.Keep it aside.
2).Heat oil and ghee in a pressure cooker (preferably 3 lits pressure cooker) add cloves, cinnamon,cardamum,shajeera along with bay leaf and fry for few seconds.
3).Add onion and green chilli.Fry till onion turns pink and soft.Add ginger garlic paste and tomato puree .Fry till raw smell goes.
4).Add chilli powder and haldi.Fry for few seconds.Add tendli along with peas ,garam masala and salt.cook for 2 to 3 min.
5).Add drained rice to cooker along with 750 ml hot water.Pressure cook for 3 to 4 whistles.
6).Allow the steam to escape and remove the lid.
7).sprinkle coriander leaves and gently mix the rice.
8).Serve this mildly spicy masala rice with any curd raitha and chips.Reduce chilli powder For kids.Garnish with fried cashew nuts.
