Kobbari Karivepaku Patchadi/coconut and curry patta leaves chutney
Ingredients:
Curry leaves-1 cup,loosely filled,
Grated fresh coconut-4 Tablesp
Tamarind Paste-1 Tsp
Peeled Garlic cloves-3
Green Chillies-4
Red Chilli-1,broken into pieces
Salt
Jeera-1/2Tsp
Oil-2 Tablesp
Channa Dal-1 and 1/2 Tablesp
Urad Dal -2 Tsp
Mustard Seeds 1/2Tsp
Onion-Medium-1,Sliced fine
Method:
1)Wash curry leaves, drain and keep them under fan till they are dry
2)Fry them in a pan with a tsp of oil till they become crisp
3)Remove leaves from pan and fry the dals with jeera till light golden in colour.Add green chillies and fry for 1/2min.(Prick the chillies before frying)
4)Grind the dal mixture and curry leaves into a coarse powder.
5)Add coconut and tamarind paste along with garlic and salt
6)Mix everything well with a spoon. Grind the mixture into smooth paste.Add 1to2 tablesp of water while grinding
7)Remove the chutney into a bowl and keep it aside
8)Heat remaining oil ,add mustard seeds,red chilli pieces and 3 curry leaves. Fry till mustard crackles.Add onion pieces,fry till they become pink and soft
9)Pour this over chutney and mix well
10)Serve this spicy and healthy chutney with any breakfast dishes like idli/dosa/pongal/upma.
11)You can also serve it with hot plain rice along with a spoon of desi ghee
